School Uniforms

Continuing the Back To School series of blog posts here, brings me to the yearly debate about school uniforms.

I have no idea what the big deal is and why so many parents are so vocal in their fight against their kids wearing uniforms to school.

Here are some of the reasons that you should be thankful your school district insists on uniforms (or the reasons you should be getting your school district a uniform policy.)

1. Uniforms are cheaper than whatever the latest fad in clothing styles is at a given moment.
2. The uniforms will not go “out of style” two months after school starts like regular street clothes. Without uniforms, by November, your kids will decide everything they wanted in August when you went back to school shopping is now out of date and they need an entirely new wardrobe.
3. Kids don’t like them. That’s one indication that they are probably good for them.
4. There will be no “what to wear” battles in the household every morning.

What do you think?
