Naughty & Nice List

Parents are scoring 50/50 today in my observations. Some are on Santa’s nice list and some are on Santa’s naughty list.

Who was naughty? I was at a movie earlier in which a kid (who was about three or four) talked out loud (and loudly) several times. The parent said nothing at all during any of the incidents, not even a quiet “shhh” sound.

Who was nice? I was also in a grocery store today and two kids were whining in the next aisle. Somehow, this is a case in which whole is definitely worse than the sum of the parts. It’s like one kid setting off the other becomes exponentially worse. Anyway, I heard this parent tell the kids that this behavior was not appropriate for a store and it would cease immediately or there would be no toys for the rest of the day. I could tell by the tone that the parent meant every word. Apparently, so could the kids because the nonsense stopped immediately.
