Making Holiday Memories With An Upside Down Christmas Tree

When you think about holiday memories from your childhood, what image comes to mind first or second? Close your eyes. I’ll wait…

I’m betting you pictured your Christmas tree with all the beautiful lights and ornaments on it as well as the perfectly wrapped presents under the tree.

Here’s a tree that’s bound to make memories and you’ve never seen anything like it before. It’s the upside down Christmas tree! Leave it to the folks at Hammacher Schlemmer to revive a 12 the century tradition and make it available in their catalog (or online).

If you’re feeling nostalgic about Christmas trees, but don’t want to go back quite that far in history, Hammacher Schlemmer also makes a 1950’s era white aluminum Christmas tree with one of those optional color wheels. I have seen those in old photographs and actually remember a teacher in elementary school putting one up in her classroom. (That was on the 80’s though!)

My favorite tree they have is one they call the World’s Best Pre-Lit Tree. The reason I like that one the best is because it looks the most realistic. There’s a very good reason for that. This artificial tree is molded from a real tree so it is really an exact replica. I am absolutely amazed that they have it in a range of sizes from 4.5 feet to 16 feet! Can you imagine, setting up a 16-foot artificial tree? I would love to be able to do that. I think you would need major cathedral ceilings or perhaps a loft type set up in which you had only a partial second floor, something like in a ski lodge. You’d have to invite all your friends to a tree-trimming party to get it decorated. Imagine the holiday memories you’d make from that!
