Christmas Wish Lists – Good Or Bad

Is it a good idea to encourage kids to write a wish list?

Some may consider it an efficient way for parents or relatives to remember the names of toys and video games that they never heard of before, using the list as a helpful guide when fighting the crowds at the toy store.

I have to disagree. I think teaching children that handing someone a list of things you expect them to purchase for you violates the spirit of gift giving in the first place. In fact, although it may be a tradition in our society, I think it borders on rude. It also encourages greed too. What kid doesn’t stuff that list with every item in which he or she is remotely interested?

What do you think?
