Chocolate Milk Versus Regular Milk

Do you buy chocolate milk?

I haven’t had chocolate milk in a long time. I think the last time I had it prior to this week was about a year ago at a buffet in which it was one of the beverage choices.

There are two reasons why I usually don’t buy chocolate milk. If you look at the ingredients list of most brands of chocolate milk, they almost always have high fructose corn syrup in them, which is a food additive I try to avoid.

(Yes, I know that regular readers will remember that I love egg nog and even egg nog shakes. Of course, egg nog and egg nog shakes have high fructose corn syrup, which is why egg nog is one of the exceptions as I noted in this article here about high fructose corn syrup in food and beverages.)

Anyway, this is also the reason, I won’t buy chocolate flavored syrup to add to plain milk. The second reason is that chocolate flavored milk is usually only available as full fat regular milk or sometimes milk containing 2% milk fat.

Since I only drink skim milk all year (banking those saved calories for eggnog and egg nog shakes during the holidays!), I don’t want to get into the habit of buying chocolate milk and adding extra calories on a regular basis.

However, I had to try a new product at the store the other day. See why Garelick Farms Over The Moon Fat Free Chocolate Milk Review caught my attention and deserves yours as well.
