On Saturday, Courtney’s mother said, “Today, I will show you how to make gelatin. I’ve already put it in the mold. Two hours from now, we’ll take it out of the refrigerator and turn the mold over gently.”

Courtney did not want to learn how to make gelatin, but she did her best to listen to her mother.

Courtney wondered what would happen if the gelatin was stuck in the mold. She placed it in a slingshot so she could get it out. THWACK!

The gelatin bounced from one side of the kitchen to the other. Courtney’s mother shook her head in dismay.

“Gelatin is supposed to jiggle in the mold, not bounce off the walls, dear,” Courtney’s mother said patiently, but not so patiently as before.

Courtney had a terrible time learning how to make gelatin. It was her sixth kitchen disaster.
