My Brother

Post Contribution by Kennith Griffin

My little brother is a teeny bit eccentric. After going the traditional route and obtaining his Bachelor’s degree, he decided to switch gears and get his Master’s degree in Anthropology. Mind you, he had multiple job offers after he graduated Magna Cum Laude with his undergraduate degree in Economics from a fairly prestigious University, but he turned them all down; he decided that the only thing that would make him happy was to pursue a life-long career in anthropological studies. We are all doing our best to support him—partly because that’s our only choice and partly because I think we all knew he wouldn’t be happy working a white-collar job the rest of his life. His second year into graduate school, he took on an internship with a non-profit organization and moved to the most remote location you can imagine to study the area’s indigenous people. We can only stay in touch via email at this point, thanks to his hectic schedule and odd working hours, but it hasn’t been terrible. I can’t even believe he has internet in his rural location, come to think of it, but evidently one of his professors recommended my brother check out internet providers by zip code. I’m a pretty big fan of that professor at this point. , ,
