More About Cell Phone Error Messages

You know one thing I love about writing about cell phone so often? It’s cathartic to turn everyday aggravations with the cell technnology into cell phone rant blog entries ! Let’s face it, cell phones provide plenty of ranting material.

Discussing (in a previous entry yesterday) the error messages and voice mail problems with my friend’s phone over the past few days reminded me of a problem I had with my cell phone a while back trying to retrieve my own cell phone voice mail messages.

One time I kept trying to access my voice mail for several hours, which was extremely irritating because I knew I had missed a call and there was a message waiting for me on the system.

Every time I dialed the number (which is programmed in and has been the same one for years), I kept getting a recording saying it wasn’t a valid number on their system, check the number and try again… Hello, Cell Provider, it’s YOUR voice mail number.

They can’t even get the error recordings right! Perhaps the recording could say the number was having temporary difficulty or something more accurate, but instead we users who pay way too much for the services as it is have to put up with ridiculous error recordings on top of lack of availability of the service. Isn’t it also funny how the cellular companies will gladly bill you for one minute over your alloted time per your plan, but they don’t offer up credits for every minute you are unable to use the services that you pay for?
