Rude Cell Phone Use

Do you think i’s rude to use a cell phone while in line at the grocery store or department store?

I know people have strong opinions on this one. I say it all comes down to the volume level of the person speaking. If he or she is talking in to the cell phone at the same volume level that would be used to talk to a friend standing right there in the line, then I have no problem with the cell phone use.

The issue for me is when someone is screaming into the cell phone because the other person can’t hear the speaker. Of course, that also leads to the cell phone reception dance in which the person jumps all over the place trying to get a better signal, but not straying too far so he or she won’t lose the place in the line.

What do you think? Should check out lines be off limits to cell phone chat?
