When IZEA acts, the blogosphere reacts in many, but ultimately predictable ways. This new RealRank is meant to compare blogs (and their resulting effectiveness for advertisers) across the Internet without reagard to PageRank. Any blogger can participate in the rankings by adding a small piece of java code in the background. There is no obligation or resulting advertising from simply adding the code. Bloggers are free to do so just to satisfy their curiosity of where they rank compared to others.
There are several weighted factors that are used to calculate the rankings including unique visitors and page views. An interesting thing about RealRank is that you can visit the site to see the complete list of factors. The list and explanation are simple and transparent, unlike those of other companies.
