Deer Feeders

I never knew there was such a thing as a deer feeder or a wildlife feeder. Of course, I have talked about bird feeders on the blog before mentioning all the different birds that I have seen come to my own backyard feeding spot, but I guess it just never occurred to me that you could get other versions for larger animals.

The website I found them on was talking about using them in reference to hunting or ranching, but there’s no reason they couldn’t be adapted for general use by anyone who wanted to feed the wildlife on his or her property.

You’ll have to check them out and realize how sturdy these things are. The site gives details about how the feeders’ parts are protected from the elements (which is important because these are not backyard pieces of molded plastic, they are heavy-duty items costing hundreds of dollars) and from pesty squirrels and raccoons getting into them. (Of course, you can also buy feeders for those pests too, but that is another blog entry. As always, once person’s pest is another’s pet.)
