Electronic Medical Records Software

Do you know where your medical records are? Do you know where your children’s medical records are?

Perhaps if your doctor’s office, pediatrician’s office, or medical provider’s office uses some type of
electronic medical records software (like that promoted by a company called VirMedice which helps doctor’s offices convert from the traditional paper-based record keeping methods to more modern and portable electronic records), then you or another medical professional could locate your medical records easily.

If you have ever moved around the country or even switched from one doctor to another in your local area and your records were in old-fashioned medical file folders, then you’ve probably found out that the records are not as easily accessible or transferable as you would have thought.

Let me tell you from personal experience how irritating when they are lost by a doctor’s office. It has happened to me (and many other people) who have been affected by HMO location closures. The paper records are either long gone or perhaps archived somewhere in some storage facility. Either way, they will never be found again. I wish all the records had been in an electronic form with appropriate electronic back ups.
