Leaky Basements

Luckily, I have never had a basement that leaked. The only time we ever came into our basement and found puddles of water when I was a child was the time the washing machine hose burst.

I’ve been surprised by the number of people who do have leaky basements. I guess it depends on either what part of the country you live in or the composition of the soil and geography of your area as well as any severe weather problems your area may experience.

Some people take proactive steps to avoid the leaks before they occur such as those that deal with a New York basement waterproofing company called American Waterproofing. I learned several things from their website about the issue including what causes basement walls to form white chalky substances and what causes brown spots on basement walls. I also learned how water can enter basements and what signs are indicative of a water leakage problem.
