Kudos To Nickelodeon

Although I am a fan of the concept of children watching much less television than they do, and therefore don’t usually mention children’s programming, I must give credit where it is due. Today, it is due to the children’s television network Nickelodeon.

I give them this recognition due to their effort to actually get kids outside and moving a couple weeks ago when they ran their annual Worldwide Day of Play. They promote this by actually shutting off the network for a three hour period. That means there is dead air, a blank screen for a full three hours!

This is more than a network paying lip service to something to get some positive publicity. Not broadcasting for a three hour period means that no advertising revenue could be generated during that time. That is a pretty bold movie for the network., , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,
