Healthy Snack For Kids

When I was a kid I loved shakes…as in ice cream shakes. Of course, I like them just as much now, but realize that healthier alternatives exist.

Parents want to get their kids to eat more fruit, but kids have other plans.

Are these two disparate facts or is there a method to my blog entry madness here? In fact, there is a method. I now make fruit shakes all the time! (Ice cream shakes still sneak in there every now and then too) Fruit shakes are fat-free and much more nutritious. Introduce them to kids early on and you may instill healthy habits that will last for many years to come.

Making fruit shakes is easy. I simply buy frozen fruit in large bags at stores like Sam’s Club or Costco. Then I use milk, orange juice, or some other fruit juice to mix with the frozen fruit in the blender. I also add fat free yogurt sometimes too.

That’s all there is to it. The fruit shakes have the same consistency as ice cream shakes, but are a much healthier choice.
