Kids Need Exercise

I know we’ve talked in the past about kids getting exercise including playing sports and just running around outside free-form and playing games like tag or jumprope. Certain messages bear repeating.

I recently read an article about Frank Booth, Ph.D, a professor of biomedical science from University of Missouri-Columbia who has given a name to the concept of people literally dying from the effects that lack of exercise has on the human body. He calls it SeDS which stands for Sedentary Death Syndrome.

Of course, this goes in hand in hand with the number of overweight people and children. Take a look around you the next time you are in Wal-Mart or Target and just observe how many people are carrygin excess pounds. Of course, half the problem is due to diet, but the other half is due to lack of exercise in our modern society. Please don’t let your kids (or yourself) fall into these categories.
